I am not just a chiropractor... I am a business owner and a Detective!

I knew I wanted to be a Doctor of Chiropractic since I was fifteen when I injured my elbow as an elite gymnast. I was unable to do gymnastics for six months and had tried many doctors and therapies to help my injury and nothing had worked. A teammate suggested trying chiropractic, and I was back to gymnastics in two weeks after getting a chiropractic adjustment. After being a chiropractor for a few years, I expanded my wellness center by becoming a Wellness Way Affiliate. My husband is a former firefighter and fire investigator that has struggled with chronic sinus issues as long as I have known him. He had three sinus surgeries and lost his smell and taste completely for about two years. Throughout my chiropractic career, I have used many different things to help him but they have all been temporary. By using The Wellness Way approach, I tested him with the proper labs and I was able to see exactly what was causing his sinus issues. For him, it was a liver, gut and immune system is

Do you know your birthing options?

This may be a subject that many mothers and families are unfamiliar with because the majority of mothers in the U.S. have hospital births. According to a recently published study, having your baby at home with a registered midwife is just as safe as a hospital birth for women with normal, uncomplicated pregnancies. The study showed a lower mortality rate in the home birth group versus the hospital birth groups. The babies were also less likely to need oxygen therapy or resuscitation. In addition, the women that gave birth at home were less likely to need interventions or have other adverse outcomes, like tearing or hemorrhaging, compared with the planned hospital birth groups attended by a midwife or physician. The women were also found to have higher satisfaction with their birth experience. Did you know in the Netherlands about one-third of the women give birth at home? Home birth in uncomplicated pregnancies is supported by the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Ro

Gut Health Promotes Good Health

Did you know your digestive system contains about 80 percent of your immune system? Your gut has so much influence over your health because of the 100 trillion bacteria, about three pounds worth, that line your digestive tract. This is an extremely complex living system that aggressively protects your body from outside offenders on a daily basis. Having the correct ratio of beneficial bacteria, or flora, to pathogenic bacteria is what keeps us healthy and from getting sick. More and more studies are being published about the important roles gut flora plays in maintaining overall health. The great news is the amount of influence each person has in this area. Processed foods high in sugar and chemical additives, stress, pollution, and antibiotics are all things that kill off the good bacteria. Every course of antibiotics tends to wipe out the majority beneficial or good bacteria which gives an opportunity for the pathogenic bacteria that causes illness to grow uncontrolled and occu

Ear Infections

Ear infections (also known as acute otitis media) are a common issue for many children, especially during the summer months. When these infections reoccur, families can be troubled with their child in pain and many sleepless nights. Often times antibiotics are ineffective and can lead to decreasing the effectiveness of the child’s immune system leading to multiple reoccurrences. When looking at the anatomy of the ear, the eustachian tube (the tube that drains the inner ear) is more horizontal in children than in adults. Sometimes the “infection” is not actually a bacterial infection, but a drainage problem. When fluid accumulates, the area becomes red and inflamed and the child feels pressure and pain. Typically this occurs with no fever at all, and sometimes it coincides with teething pain and irritation. During the summer months this also occurs with frequent swimming and repeated exposure to the highly chlorinated water in pools. Chiropractic care can help improve the dra

The Perfect Pair -Chiropractic and Pregnancy-

Do you know someone that is pregnant or are you currently pregnant? There are endless amounts of benefits for a mother being under chiropractic care throughout her pregnancy. Did you know that over 50% of pregnant women experience back pain during their pregnancy? Taking medications, even over-the-counter medications, are not recommended because they cross the placenta and enter the baby's blood stream. A study published in the Journal of Respiratory & Critical Care Medicine followed 25,000 British children and their mothers. The results from this study found that women who take antibiotics during pregnancy are more likely to have a child with an allergy-related condition such as asthma, eczema, or hay fever compared to women who do not take medication during pregnancy. The safe, effective alternative for these aches, pains and/or colds during pregnancy is chiropractic care. The adjustments are modified to accommodate the mother's growing belly and studies have shown ch
